Poem: 12/15/2019

There was a moment I last crossed your mind,
When your determination flickered
And the spring of your devotion ran dry like
parchment.

There was an instant you wavered,
When forgiveness teetered in the balance
And the scales of your heart crashed down like
a gavel.

There are moments now in the aftermath
When memory clamors to speak
And the shadow of your silence shelters like
A cold embrace.
